• A portrait commission for a Feywild deity in a DND setting with a 1920's aesthetic influence. Nivienne was explained as being alike the Lady of the Lake in Arthurian legend.
Really such a pleasure to work with this one.
    Completed in July 2021.

An excerpt of her wonderful description:

Excerpt: Not much is known about Nivienne—where she came from, how she became an archfey. It has been so long that sometimes she can hardly remember herself. When asked, she recounts tales of being a young lad and watching kingdoms fall, or of watching grand battles unfold. Her transition to her current female form took place around the same time as her ascension to the position of archfey, and is something she doesn’t often address. She is often worshiped as a deity of fate, destiny, and sometimes luck. Though tales of her actions are usually regarded as mere myths or tall tales, many adventurers seek her out in the hope that she can help them succeed or overcome their difficulties in some way.

Much like her history, Nivienne’s race and true age are unknown. She appears to be more human than anything, though she has an unexplainable ethereal quality to her appearance. Her red hair glistens in sunlight like fire, and is almost always adorned with some sort of > circlet or other accessory. Her green eyes invoke memories of moss growing along the water's edge, or of treetops basking in the sun.

  • this is Sunny, one of my OCs. I've redesigned her recently and this is one of her early sketches. I might tweak her design a bit more and make an actual illustration with her in the future (including her sibling)

  • **This piece was originally completed and published to DeviantArt on Jun 13, 2022.**

To begin with, the Jormungar pictured here is indeed not Mudwiggle! *gasp* I mean, he is white and the featured worm is blue. Plus, the scene would have become too cluttered if Mudwiggle had slithered his worminess into this piece o' art.

The concept of this specific piece altered frequently from what was originally pictured in my crazy lady brain. One delightful evening, I decided to watch the recent Dune movie. Towards the end, there was someone surfing on one of the monstrous worms. A unique image of Phe surfing on a giant Jormungar immediately came to mind. Only one potential problem, there is no awesome gigantic Jormungar mount in the World of Warcraft. *gasp* The dreadful shame!!! It was naturally time to develop one myself. However, before I realized it, my inspired creation had taken on a life of its own and became a vicious gladiator worm mount.

So, the concept changed to having Phe ride into heroic battle on a vicious wormy steed! Then a test pose was done of the armor-clad Jormungar. Not solely did the pose, but the camera positioning that turned out too awesome for its own good. Like so, idea two was scrapped, and what you observe became the final vision.

Woefully, this piece does not show off the Jormungar mount in all its true glory! To remedy that, I'm making my first ever animated turntable, woot!!

In all honesty, what was created here took way longer than it should have. It was a month in total to carefully prepare all the assets and satisfactorily complete the finished piece...

  • A still life based on a photo I took while working on a painting. I might revisit this at some point.
