Many years ago (note that the present point in my sci-fi story is ~2070 and "many years ago" is actually ~2030...), a giant monster attacked humanity. Humans responded by creating their own mechanical monsters to fight it... It failed miserably. But they quickly learned that while mechs may not be able to fight kaiju, they are quite useful in other fields! Most notably, construction and demolition. In the present day, their advanced AI is used to keep themselves balanced and steady while carrying out the drivers commands. This means that there isn't a single type of terrain that can stop a mech in its path. They can carry huge loads up and down mountains, through rivers, across ice, etc... There's been a few instances of drivers losing control of their mechs, but those have all been attributed to user error and are nothing to worry about. I did not intend for Damian to look so evil up there, but oh well what can you do. And why yes that pic of him IS based on that render of hammond overwatch operating a forklift thank you for asking.
