Director of a highly infamous military base, Michael was always a secretive and guarded person, constantly wanting to seem as ordinary as possible. He didn't think it was that much trouble avoiding the attention of conspiracy nuts and alien toters alike, that was no issue - it was a bit of a challenge when they started a project to reverse engineer a number of foreign aircraft that they had come into possession of, but it shouldn't be too hard right? Well, it turned out to be too much trouble in the end, when an engine core blew up in his face and irreversibly transmuted his DNA into that of an alien's.

As it turns out, the spacecraft came from an alien species called the Leskim, and they had a tendency to place chambers of a biochemical within their engines as a deterrant for sabotage that would melt any organic life that accidentally triggered it... And in unfeasibly rare cases, would find someone with the right makeup and warp their genetic makeup into a Leskim instead. Lucky, or unlucky, he was changed and is now a staggeringly tall space cat-lizard, go figure. At least the Leskim have the ability to appearance shift, and he can maintain his human look. He goes by 'Cihel' as a precaution to stop anyone from linking his two forms together and realising the truth about him, but it just got so much harder to try and stave off those theorists now they're totally right.

One of the original creations of the Metagenic Riches Project, and referred to only as 721, Sharper is a Pesteraff and a forerunner for the new species that was created to try and enhance humans for better adaptability - splicing human genetics with that of animals known for being hardy and living in hard to live environments, the pests and scavengers of the world - and creating a hybrid that could survive in difficult environments. What was created were humanoid creatures with animalistic figures, diminuitive in size and kept in secret underground in a facility that never saw daylight. The Pesteraffs were developed through dozens of refinements, indicated by batch numbers printed on their ear tags, until they surpassed all expectation, wickedly smart and very hard to kill due to their increased resistances and strong genetic combinations.

The project was defunded once it was unearthed and eventually shut down, though the human population on the surface never did find out what it was that had been created. The Pesteraffs remained underground, tunneling past the confines of the lab complex and eventually developing civilisations of their own, extremely technologically savvy and beginning to replace their more delicate limbs with robotics. While the first generation of Pesteraffs were sterile and unable to have children, later generations were able to reproduce and Pesteraffs began to flourish in their underground home.

Eventually, they began to get curious about the surface and the humans that they had been keeping an eye on during this time. They eventually developed hard light holograms able to project human disguises around their bodies and now they have begun venturing to the surface and exploring, and cohabiting with humans right under their noses without them realising... But never showing the world of their existence for fear of what they might think.

Soren Edevane is a physician who was in the employ of a charity-run hospital called the Charitable Soul Hospital, working to heal people and take care of those who need assistance. It also functions as an outreach and provides for the community, and he has been a part of this since he was very young, given to them by his parents when only little to train with them. He is also trained and taught in the ways of ki, using it alongside his scientific practice. He was caught up in a dark secret going on behind the scenes - a rash of patients dying under mysterious circumstances - where it turned out that a vampire had been bribing other doctors for access to patients that nobody is going to miss. Dr Edevane was slated to be the next let in on the secret but could not abide by it and resolved to make it known to the public.

The vampire decided to take this opportunity to shed suspicion by biting Soren in his sleep and turned him into a spawn, to levy suspicion on him instead. Soren, oblivious to having died in his sleep, went about his business as normal, trying to reason away all these new problems and complications without really knowing the truth. His colleague who specialises in supernatural ailments figured this out immediately and came to break the news to him, which he didn't take all that well. The vampire that bit him returned to proposition him, having backed him into a metaphorical corner - "you've got not much choice now, you either keep your mouth shut or there will be consequences". Soren naturally put his patients first, which led to the vampire forcing his blood on him, making him a true vampire (much more damning evidence), then later the corrupt doctors outed Soren as being 'the real culprit behind the deaths'.

Background kind of marred and murky in origin, Talien is a masked kitvoren who whilst fairly open about his being a kitvoren and wearing an ID badge to say so at all times, also doesn't really open up about his actual age or where (or what) he came from. He will occasionally offhandedly mention springing up out of the harbour in Hong Kong, but that seems to bring up more questions than it answers. He started out life briefly in Hong Kong before making his way to the United Kingdom on board a ship... Either legally or not, that's another thing he neglects to mention. Either way, he began working in apothecaries and pharmacies, lending his helpful ability to create healing concoctions in his pouch to good use. He eventually began studying as well and got the qualifications to do lab work.

Doing a brief stint of work at Unity Labs, he gained the experience and qualification to head up his own labs, which he began doing so in England with a small team of people, though this eventually grew in number. His hires have been mostly humans, with the occasional Kitvoren intern or assistant passing through, so he still remains a bit of an oddity to his main stays. A lot of them find his propensity to use his own pouch for the creation of healing elixirs odd - whilst he doesn't use this on a commercial scale, he does frequently offer it up to colleagues, much to their bemusement and horror. At the end of the day, it's an entirely sterile process and the healing that these potions provides is absolutely unquestionable in its potency. Despite this, he does also brew tea for his own consumption in the pouch as well, and often harps on about its benefits to others at any given opportunity.

A real strange case, Andrei is a kitvoren who appeared in the 80s with a head full of swirling and uninterpretable thoughts, another self in the form of an alter with the same name, along with a lack of vision... Of the visible spectrum anyways. Andrei is able to see in limited infra red, which means that whilst he can generally see where a person or animal is, he can't see anything that doesn't give off heat... Which can pose some problems for him sometimes. It was a challenge for him to get to grips with the world, but with the help of a kind individual, managed to get on his feet and the accessibiility tools he needed, and things were all fine and dandy until in 2021 he managed to contract a parasite that has made its home in his spine. The parasite doesn't really seem outwardly malicious, but it behaves very differently for Andrei's alter, shifting the hand forward to place itself over the face when fronting.

As an unmasked Kitvoren, he is able to take on the guise of a human being, and does so fairly often in order to coexist and live without anyone knowing what he really is. He gets respite from this and is able to appear as his true self in the dark markets under New York City, but otherwise manages to live his life without much hindrance from the anti-Kitvoren activists, who aren't aware. Andrei is actually a fairly well-known radio host on a popular radio show, and definitely enjoys what he does for a living, being able to chat for hours on any given subject. His witty remarks are a staple for a lot of listeners.
