• Day 9 of #TitTober is done. The prompt was "The Towel". I struggled with this one too, hands hurt from working on stuff around the house. : /

  • I feel like I'm going to reiterate some stuff I said in today's earlier blog post but I'm starting to feel good about this place. It's already really helped me in regards to communicating with other people about art that isn't mine. It feels wrong to say that I don't really engage with other people's art but Twitter's really hurt my ability to interact with other people's work since most of what I see is just... retweets. Neverending retweets. And I have that issue on Tumblr too.

    Today though on here and other sites, including Twitter, I've been putting more effort to say what I like about people's work. It's hard I'll admit. Since I'm out of practice it's hard to say something that isn't some variant of "THAT'S SO COOL!" I don't mind getting replies like that but if it's from me it doesn't really feel like I'm being as authentic as I could be if I say what I like. So this has been really helpful. Especially since I can actually speak in complete thoughts instead of the shortest thing I can possibly muster. ._.;;;

    I hope that through this I'll be able to build back my ability to critically engage with the art of my friends and people I follow and more importantly critically engage in a way that doesn't just over emphasize on what needs work. I could use more practice on negative criticism too though. A lot of people ask not to receive critique because it _can_ feel like an attack but I think it's still helpful because it tells you what you need to work on. Also it's helpful to be able to give it because if one of your friends asks for help you'll have that language there to convey your thoughts to them.

    Anyway, I didn't really need to write this. I'm just jazzed. Today wasn't much but it was the most fun I've had in the online art space in YEARS.
