  • Cleared my entire upload history because otherwise there would be a 2+ year jump in between old and new art. I can see stuff again on here (wasn't able to for a really long time)
The website being back (in its new version) was pretty sudden, and I'll have to take time to figure everything out now that it's all new, but I hope that this time it'll be usable

I've been active on bsky the most, and I'm not planning on re-posting anything here, but the profile is linked in my bio (hopefully we get that option for social links soon!).

I also got rid of the second account that I had on here for doodles as I have stopped posting those on single-gallery websites (i.e., without a "scraps" gallery).

It looks like the "blogs" page isn't working (yet?) so I'm just putting this in a regular post for now.

[edit] I hope there will be a chronological feed and not just "popular" and "suggested" posts. Right now that's all I'm seeing on the front page

[edit 2] I think the lack of a chronological feed might be because I'm not following anyone (yet), but I don't really feel tempted to follow anyone when the only accessible posts are the same few "popular" ones
I've also noticed a bug in the mobile version of the website (I did send a bug report) that makes it unusable (it keeps forcing me to the previous page seemingly randomly), so I'll only be using it on desktop for now.

  • Oh god... What even happened here? We went from an art site to a facebook clone?

All my artwork is out of order, my page doesn't even feel like an art site gallery, the front page is just another scrolling timeline where everything is massive and built with only mobile users in mind... I have to scroll endlessly to see any new artwork, hidden among people's status posts...

No way to browse just artwork outside of tags. No way to see a tile of recently uploaded artwork. At least as far as I can tell. Clicking on trending tags brings me to yet another timeline scroll, which isn't even centered on desktop. It's aligned to the left with a lot of dead space on the right that is just... empty.

Yeah no. This website is not for me. This isn't an art site. ("Photos" instead of "Gallery"???) It's yet another generic social media clone. Sorry, but that's not what I'm interested in. I don't know why there's such a push for every new site having a mobile-centric UI, even on desktop, designed to keep you scrolling forever on your phone. It is *so clunky* to use on desktop. It's so easy to miss new art uploads, because you can't view thumbnails on a grid. Discoverability becomes tied to how often people share your pieces around.

I'm just tired, man. Maybe I'm just getting old and exhausted from trying out so many new "art sites". The way artwork is displayed and discovered is one of the most important things to me. I want to be able to open the front page, and see a grid of new artwork, where I can select multiple tabs to open and browse at my leisure. I want my profile to have my art be the focus. I don't need everything to try to function like bluesky or twitter, and if this is the direction inkblot is going to go, then well... I don't think I'll be giving it another chance.

So if anyone who happened to follow me here (I can see my follower count got wiped anyway) wants to see what sort of art I'm doing now, please check out any of my other social links here:

I hope for those of you who do intend on staying that this site serves your needs better than mine. But for me, I'm out.

    - Rune

EDIT: WHY IS THE WEBSITE CARD LINK SO BIG!???

  • It's nice to see that Inkblot 2.0 finally launched, but MAN, is it as buggy as ever! What's crazy is that my timeline doesn't display my posts in the correct order, which should be from my latest drawing (according to version 1.whatever it was) to my oldest drawing! Why it's not doing that, I'm not sure. I also cannot reupload my old banner as it doesn't tell me why it can't be uploaded. It just says that something went wrong, and nothing else! I know that Inkblot 2.0 just launched so I'm willing to give it time before I start uploading my backlog of artwork since the last one I posted on here due to the upgrade. Once the sorting order is figured out, then I'll continue to upload here. Otherwise, I might just say "forget it" and just stick to DeviantArt, Bluesky, and Itaku. I may consider Fur Affinity as another potential place to post my artwork, but we'll have to wait and see how things play out first.

  • Whew! It's been a hot while since I popped in here! I'm so glad 2.0 made it, the wait was worth it! Obviously there are some bugs and issues here and there, but nothing bug squashing can't handle. c: I've since got some more non arpg art to share. I may as well share them once I get a moment.
